Beanies for Preemies- crochet pattern freebies

Among my many sources of joy is being part of the dynamic team that is Cebu Crochet Group. Meeting like-minded people who can relate and understand what it’s like to be addicted to this craft is such a breath of fresh air. We look forward to so many things throughout the year including monthly meetups, public installations, knockers donation in October, and of course our Little Hats Big Hearts project that happens every February to mark our anniversary.

Little Hats Big Hearts is a project where Cebu Crochet Group gives back by gifting crocheted/knitted beanies to the premature babies of the NICU ward. 2020 marks our second year in participating in this project.

It doesn’t take long to realize that making the same basic beanie one after another can get monotonous and boring very quickly, so I decided to create my own preemie beanie patterns to make things a little more fun and interesting. To download the free pdf pattern instantly, click on the titles under the image. These are also availabe for download in my ravelry store at https://www.ravelry.com/stores/berns-dy-designs

The Patterns:

Bebe Preemie Beanie
Bebe Beanie– A classic twist to the classic beanie we know. The Bebe beanie is a striped textured preemie crochet beanie that works for both boys and girls.
bty
Lots of love preemie beanie– a heart inspired beanie to warm the heads and hearts of the littlest humans.
hdr
sirena preemie beanie– a mermaid inspired preemie beanie for baby girls. Easier than it looks and full of whimsy.

Meet the Makers

Fortunately I never ran short of guinea pigs to try out these patterns. My ever supportive Cebu Crochet Group co-members were very much willing to try them out for me. Thank you, ladies!

Cebu Crochet Group crocheted, knitted, and laundered a total of 400 preemie beanies. On March 7, we turned over 120 hats for the preemies and neonates of Perpetual Succour Hospital. Distribution to other hospitals had to be postponed because of the current COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, Cebu Crochet Group remains to be active online. If you crochet and happen to be from Cebu, be sure to join our group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cebucrochetgroup.
